Diseases that ravage the helpless body and can hardly be cured, horrible crimes that can’t be stopped by more laws, accidents that happen every hour, calamities that bring sudden and massive destruction… Everyday, the world is more and more a very dangerous place to live in. All these make the heart tremble and the mind worry no end. Peace has become a very rare treasure.
Is there help? Is there a safe place, a haven for our weary souls and trembling hearts? Or are we left on our own devices to fend for ourselves?
This brings us to the basic truth: the Word of God. We search deeply His Word, the Word of the One who created us. And yes, there is help, there is hope and help from God our Father. And He has not left us, nor will He ever leave us. He is our Shepherd. He tends the sheep, us, if we only know how to follow with all our hearts.
…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Heb. 13:5)
What, then, is the most excellent thing to do with this life, this life that God has gifted us with, so that our days are lived covered by the love and care of the Father, always in His protection and keeping?
His Word answers us. And it’s all there, all that we’ll ever need to navigate this journey called LIFE.
If we’ve been endlessly fearing and worrying, feeling so vulnerable to all kinds of evil works, MAYBE BECAUSE WE’VE SET OUR LOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE.
But if we set our love on the God Almighty, the One who gave us our life, the One who holds the universe in His hands, WE WILL BE KEPT IN HIS LOVE AND PROTECTION SECURELY AND SURELY, and there is really nothing to fear.
So, there really is a safe place in this dangerous world – in the secret place of the most High, in the close keeping of the Shepherd. There, we are shielded from the plague, the diseases that ravage. There, the pestilences cannot touch us. HE IS OUR SHIELD. Make Him your shield. He said to Abraham:
Fear not, Abram: I AM THY SHIELD, and thy exceeding great reward. (Gen 15:1)

Let’s make God our habitation, our dwelling place. Let’s place ourselves under His shadow, under His wings.
But, how? How do we set our love on the Lord God Almighty? That is still my fervent prayer – that the Lord will help me, teach me, guide me, draw me, to set, show, prove, my love for Him. It should be our daily desire, our daily goal, to set our love on Him and not on the things of this world. That our thoughts, the contents of our hearts, our words, and deeds honor Him and show our love for Him.
Every night, I weep before Him, asking for help how I could show my love for Him, how I could stay in His secret place, even when I needed to attend to other matters. The secret place is that place where we feel His holy presence, where we feel His Holy Spirit’s comfort, and hear His gentle whisper assuring us of His everlasting love. We enter into His presence when we humbly come before Him with songs of heartfelt praise offered unto Him, and we commune with Him in the spirit, worshiping Him with all our minds, hearts, and souls. There is no substitute for this holy communion: when our spirit is in fellowship with the Spirit of God.
Dear friends, the Lord Jesus Christ is the safest place to be. Let’s do our best to abide in Him. Love Him with ALL that’s in us. It’s what He requires, that’s why it’s the greatest commandment. And in loving Him sincerely, we can keep His commandments.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10: 28)
Our strong faith pleases Him. But without faith it is impossible to please him… (Heb. 11: 6). So, believe. Even in the midst of life’s storm, BELIEVE.
I believe in angels that guard the children of God. When I pray for my daughter, I think of her two angels guarding her, and my heart and mind are at peace.
Are they not all ministering spirits [angels], sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (Heb. 1: 14)
Let us, therefore, pour out our lives before Him and for Him like a drink offering: loving, honoring, following, and serving Him all our days.
Because HE HATH SET HIS LOVE UPON ME, therefore will I deliver him…
He shall call upon me , and I will answer him: I WILL BE WITH HIM IN TROUBLE;…
With long life will I satisfy him, and SHEW HIM MY SALVATION. (Psalm 91: 14,15,16, emphasis added)
